DAYTON — Police are searching for a stolen car that had an 18-month-old child in the backseat when it was taken.
The child, strapped in a car seat, was recovered in the middle of the 3800 block of Adair Avenue in Harrison Twp., about 4:54 p.m., according to police and fire radio dispatches.
The child is OK, according to police.
The car is believed to be a 2012 purple Kia Optima that initially was believed to have been headed south on I-75 near Stanley Avenue in Dayton about 4:27 p.m.
Minutes later, police received information from callers to Montgomery County Regional Dispatch that the car was last seen headed north on I-75, and may have left the interstate before Needmore Road.
Police and deputies were sent to Adair Avenue, where they found the baby. At 5 p.m., the vehicle had not been located, according to police.
