Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office said 69-year-old Lonnie Breland was found dead in his car Sunday night.
The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office said a missing man was found dead in his car on Sunday night.
CCSO says Lonnie Breland, 69, was last seen Friday, August 28th. His family filed a missing person report after Breland did not show up to dinner plans and was not answering his phone.
The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office — with the help of friends, family and volunteers– searched for Breland all weekend. CCSO said they pinged Breland’s phone to try to locate him and also used social media.
At about 6:00 p.m. Sunday, CCSO said a volunteer had found Breland’s car near Dayton Avenue. Emergency responders said Breland was dead when they arrived.
Investigators say the car appears to have left the road, traveled about a half a mile and stopped in a densely wooded area. CCSO said they believe medical complications could have been the underlying cause of the crash.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol is investigating.
