The shooting took place around 10:35 p.m. on Aug. 13 on I-270 southbound near the Hall Road overpass.
The victims were in the passenger seats of a vehicle when they were shot, according to police. The back window of the vehicle was visibly shot out.
The victims, not identified by police at the time due to being juveniles, were transported to a hospital. One victim was admitted in critical condition with a gunshot wound to the head. The other was stable and recovered.
The victim with serious injuries later passed away on Sept. 4 around 12:45 p.m.
“People shouldn’t go through this, nobody deserves this,” said the teen who survived in an interview with ABC 6/FOX 28. “It’s crazy, I don’t know why this stuff needs to happen.”
The teen did not recognize the suspect’s vehicle and could not tell how many people were inside.
Police say this is the 98th homicide in Columbus in 2020.

Columbus Police said detectives are investigating multiple recent highway shootings.
At this point, police said they are unable to determine if any of these cases are connected.
