A Danville man is facing a murder charge in connection with a woman’s shooting death over the weekend.

35-year-old Raheem Supreme Chambliss is charged with second-degree murder in the Sunday morning homicide of Lashanda Deshazo.

Police arrested Chambliss on Sunday afternoon in Danville on unrelated charges. Authorities served the warrant for murder to Chambliss on Monday afternoon while he was being held in the Pittsylvania County Sheriff’s Office Jail.

Police said Chambliss and Deshazo knew each other and the motive for the shooting was drug-related.

Police said they don’t have any reason to believe there are any other suspects at large in connection with Deshazo’s death.

Chambliss is still being held without bail in the Pittsylvania County Sheriff’s Office Jail.
