TROUP COUNTY, Ga. — An inmate tried to have a Georgia deputy killed from behind bars, authorities said.
Investigators said in August they learned Jonathan Taylor Lawrence, of Senoia, was possibly soliciting the murder of a Troup County deputy while he was jailed at the county jail.
During the investigation, an undercover officer contacted the 28-year-old and was given a plan with “substantial steps” to have the deputy killed. The undercover officer then passed on the information to authorities and, on Wednesday, Lawrence was charged with felony Criminal Attempt Murder.
Due to security reasons, the deputy’s name was not released.
