Wichita Falls Police announced capital murder charges for a man connected to the shooting death of Jason Baum in June.
Dimonique McKinney was charged Monday with with Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity-Capital Murder. His bond is set at $500,000.
According to the warrant for arrest, on June 11 officers responded to the 4600 block of Meadow Lake Drive for a shots-fired call. When officers arrived, they found Jason Baum lying deceased in an alley with gunshot wounds.
During the investigation, detectives identified Martez Vrana as the driver of a vehicle that a witness saw leaving the crime scene.
Vrana was charged Sept. 18 with capital murder in his connection to Baum’s homicide.
During an interview with detectives, Vrana confessed to driving Sammy Worthy IV and McKinney to a house off Fairway to buy some marijuana.
Detectives spoke to Worthy who confessed that he, McKinney, Vrana, and Antwan Williams went to the address on Meadow Lake Drive for a “lick,” a slang term for robbery.
According to a previous TRN report, Baum was shot to death in an alley behind a home in the 4600 block of Meadow Lake Drive on June 11.
Worthy said while Vrana and McKinney were attempting to remove a chest from the property, Baum pulled into the alleyway.
McKinney approached Baum and told him to give him “everything you got.”
Worthy said he heard gunshots and ran back to a waiting car with Vrana running behind, firing a weapon down the alley. When McKinney returned to the car, he was asked why he shot. McKinney said the victim reached for his waistband.
According to the warrant, on July 1 a person claiming to know McKinney for several years contacted detectives and said McKinney confessed to him that he was the person who shot and killed Jason Baum.
On Monday, Worthy was charged with Organized Criminal Activity-Murder in connection with the Baum murder. His bond is set at $250,000.
According to previous Times Record News reports, on Sept.17 Antwan Williams was charged with Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity-Murder and Martez Vrana was charged Sept. 18 with Capital Murder in connection with this incident.
